Joe Silverzweig

Joe and his lovely family

I thrive where community meets government. I love serving my community- whether it’s by working on a board, volunteering for an important cause, or helping to craft inspiring partnerships.

My life and career has provided me with the skills, relationships, and values that will make me an exceptional councilmember for Murray City.

Meet Joe

I’m Joe Silverzweig, candidate for Murray City Council District 2. I’m an attorney by training, a former small business owner, and a government relations expert. I’m honored to serve on nonprofit boards, volunteer in my community, and fundraise for causes I believe in. In some ways I feel as if I’ve been preparing my whole life to help steer local communities to new heights of prosperity and community.

My core values are integrity, accountability, and compassion. I believe that these traits are the foundation of a joyous, successful life that creates a legacy a person can take pride in.

Joe's StoryWorking to Strengthen My Community Every Step of the Way

I earned my undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Utah, working my way through law school and the bar exam by working as a law clerk and construction worker.

Small Business Owner

I loved running my own law firm. Rolling your sleeves up and taking care of business for everything from your first client call to office janitor teaches you important lessons about work and how an organization needs every part performing to succeed.

Assistant Attorney General

As an Assistant Attorney General, working to implement better juvenile justice policy, protect the state, and ensure that governments, non-profits, and corporations were working together to make Utah a better place for kids.

Telecommunications Executive

I now work for Comcast, collaborating with other businesses, nonprofits, and government partners to make a difference in our community by bridging the digital divide- making sure everyone has access to the internet, the tools and skills to make the most of it, and that disability does not limit a person’s capacity to participate in our digital community.

I also serve on the Executive Committee of Utah Communities Connect, the Board of Directors of Planned Parenthood of Utah, and have helped raise nearly $100,000 in the last two years for the American Heart Association.
